One of three prominent Republicans who decided Republican gubernatorial candidate Allen Weh’s ads were not accurate says it’s time to move past that situation.
Pat Rogers, the state’s national Republican committeeman, joined GOP national committeewoman Rosie Tripp and state GOP Chairman Harvey Yates in examining the attack ads from Weh and his opponent Susana Martinez.
Yates has said the committee determined that Martinez’s ads were fair but Weh’s were not accurate. When Weh refused to pull his ads, Yates went public and said the ads were misleading and dishonest.
Rogers isn’t saying anything about that situation.
“I have had conversations with many of our outstanding candidates in the statewide races. To the extent those candidates disclose portions of any confidential discussions, that would be their choice,” Rogers said in a prepared statement. “What’s important today is that people get out and vote for the next governor of New Mexico and the next lieutenant governor.”
Rogers called all five GOP gubernatorial candidates – including Weh – “very qualified and capable,” and said New Mexicans are “demanding a change and someone who can lead our state out of the wilderness.”
This article has been updated to clarify that the committee said Weh’s ads weren’t accurate. Yates in his personal capacity said the ads were misleading and dishonest.
