Former Public Regulation Commissioner Herb H. Hughes has endorsed Jamie Estrada in the Republican primary for the District 5 seat on the PRC.
“New Mexico needs a commissioner like Jamie who will bring a fair, reasonable and ethical approach to the PRC,” Hughes said in a news release from the Estrada campaign. “Jamie has a wealth of private and public sector experience, which will help him make independent and data-driven decisions on important cases that impact the lives of everyday New Mexicans.”
Estrada said it was an honor to have Hughes’ endorsement.
“His reputation is sterling and he’s known for his honest, ethical and commonsense approach to complex issues before the PRC,” Estrada said. “The Albuquerque Journal, commenting on the recurring corruption plaguing the PRC, recently said, ‘…it’s easy to forget that the occasional sensible commissioner, like Herb Hughes… gets elected.’ New Mexico needs more public servants like Herb Hughes.”
Hughes served on the PRC from 1999-2004.
