Early voting starts today for primary election

Today is the last day to register to vote in the June 1 primary, and early voting for the Democratic and Republican party primaries begins today.

In Doña Ana County, early voting at the Doña Ana County Government Center will run from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. each business day through May 28, and from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, May 29. Six additional early voting sites will open May 15.

Also, if you want to register to vote in one of the primaries, today is the last day you can do it. You must do so before your county clerk’s office closes at 5 p.m.

By the way, here are some new voter registration numbers from Doña Ana County, provided by Clerk Lynn Ellins. As of Monday, there were 98,392 registered voters in the county, with 49,077 of them Democrats and 27,654 Republicans. The others are independents and members of minor parties.
