Democrats Brian Colón, who’s running for lieutenant governor, and Sandy Jones, who’s running for land commissioner, announced new endorsements today.
Colón announced the backing of the Communication Workers of America Local 7076, which has 4,200 members statewide.
“Brian Colón knows the issues facing working families in today’s economic climate and has the ability to bring people together to create solutions that will help people now, as well as in the future,” Michelle M. Lewis, president of CWA Local 7076, said in a news release from the Colón campaign. “His compassionate understanding of the struggles and hopes of New Mexicans is what sets him apart.”
Meanwhile, Jones announced the backing of three AFSCME local units – 2777, 477 and 2890, representing about 2,000 members – and New Mexico Carpenters Union local 1353, representing about 500 people.
Jones also announced endorsements from state Sens. Tim Jennings, Howie Morales, George Muñoz and John Arthur Smith, and Reps. Andrew Barreras, Dona Irwin, Sheryl Williams Stapleton and Al Park.
