Update, 2:35 p.m.
Apparently, power just went back on in downtown Santa Fe. The deadline for filing reports is still 5 p.m. on Friday.
Original posting:
A power outage has knocked out computer systems at the Secretary of State’s Office in Santa Fe, but the office’s system for filing and viewing campaign finance reports remains online and operational.
Still, because of the chaos and confusion caused by the outage, state Elections Director Don Francisco Trujillo II said the office has extended the deadline for filing the final finance reports due before Tuesday’s primary election to Friday at 5 p.m.
Finance reports had been due today by 5 p.m.
The Secretary of State’s main Web site is down, but its campaign finance information system is housed on a server in Albuquerque and is still live. It’s at www.cfis.state.nm.us/.
Trujillo said candidates can continue filing reports today. Messages left at the Secretary of State’s Office are being received, and two employees are working from home to respond to requests for help.
Trujillo said PNM estimates power will return in downtown Santa Fe by 4:30 p.m. The outage was caused by a vehicle that crashed into a transformer.
