The Secretary of State’s Office unveiled its new campaign finance information system today – just in time for finance reports that are due today from candidates for state offices.
You can view the new campaign finance system here.
The finance reports due today are the first required reports since October, and they will reflect all campaign fundraising and spending from since the last report through April 5.
We already know some information about fundraising during that time: Gubernatorial candidates Janice Arnold-Jones, Diane Denish, Pete Domenici Jr. and Susana Martinez and Lt. Gov. candidate Brian Moore have released some information voluntarily since October. Other candidates have not.
So today should tell us a lot about where the races stand, assuming the new system works well and we’re able to access the information. The new system looks good to me, but the Secretary of State’s Office has a history of not getting this system right when it’s tried in the past.
Let’s hope today is different.
