Democratic gubernatorial candidate Diane Denish raised more than $1.1 million in the last fundraising period, her campaign announced today.
Denish raised $1,114,142.83 from October 1 to April 5, according to the cover page of her finance report, which she released today. The full report isn’t yet available on the Secretary of State’s Web site.
Denish reported spending $715,538.69, and she ended the fundraising period with almost $2.6 million on hand. Her campaign carries just over $260,000 in unpaid debt. In-kind contributions for the fundraising period added up to $51,308.34.
The Denish campaign said in a news release that more than half of its 8,400 contributions – 4,893 – were for $100 or less.
“As I share my vision for a new way forward in communities across the state, the response has been overwhelming,” Denish said in the release. “I have a unique relationship with New Mexico families and they know that I’m on their side. Sure times are tough, but New Mexicans are tougher and together we’re going to turn this economy around and create the jobs that will fuel our state’s recovery.”
The Denish campaign said December and March were her strongest fundraising months yet. Denish did not solicit contributions during the regular and special legislative sessions and bill-signing periods, excluding her from fundraising during January and February.
In spite of that, the campaign said Denish exceeded her fundraising goal by raising $380,000 in the last three weeks of the fundraising period.
Denish has raised just under $4 million thus far for her gubernatorial campaign.
