Like past polls, a new survey released by U.S. Rep. Harry Teague’s campaign confirms what we already knew – the race between the Democratic incumbent and his Republican challenger, Steve Pearce, is close.
The internal Teague poll has him leading 47 percent to 46 percent, The New Mexico Independent is reporting.
The poll, conducted by Hamilton Campaigns, surveyed 500 likely voters and had a margin of error of 4.4 percentage points, the Independent reported. The Independent didn’t say when the poll was conducted, but Teague’s finance report indicates it was done sometime in the first three months of the year.
Two other polls have shown Pearce with a narrow lead.
The only independent poll of the race, conducted in February by the Democratic firm Public Policy Polling, had Pearce leading 43-41 percent. Also in February, a poll released by the Pearce campaign showed him leading 48-44 percent.
