Doña Ana County Manager Brian Haines is out on medical leave for “an indefinite period” because of a “chronic pain issue,” Assistant County Manager Sue Padilla notified commissioners this week.
Here’s the full statement Padilla read at a commission meeting earlier this week:
“Madam chair, commissioners, Doña Ana County Manager Brian D. Haines is out on medical leave for an indefinite period. He and his family are evaluating surgical options to address a chronic pain issue. In the meantime, the chain of command for county business will be me, Chuck McMahon and John Caldwell. We’ll be in contact with Mr. Haines as needed until he can return to work.”
Haines’ leave was effective Monday, county spokesman Jess Williams said. No other information was immediately available.
