Bernalillo County Sheriff Darren White has endorsed Republican gubernatorial candidate Susana Martinez.
White, a Republican who will resign his job at the end of the month to become Albuquerque’s public safety director, made the endorsement in a letter that was sent out this weekend.
“This is a woman who has made pursuing justice for the innocent her life’s mission,” White writes about Martinez in the letter. “She personally prosecutes some of the toughest cases around…cases against child killers, rapists, and even powerful and corrupt public officials. She fights for what’s right and backs down to no one.”
“… she’s more than just a skilled campaigner. Susana Martinez shares our conservative values and is rock‐solid on the issues,” the letter states. “Martinez is deeply committed to less government and lower taxes. She is pro‐life, strongly supports the 2nd Amendment and will fight to reinstate the death penalty.”
Martinez is competing in the GOP primary against state Rep. Janice Arnold-Jones, public relations professional Doug Turner and former state GOP Chairman Allen Weh.
