Albuquerque City Councilor Brad Winter has endorsed Republican Allen Weh in the gubernatorial race.
Weh announced the backing of Winter, a Republican, in a news release that named Winter as one of three co-chairs of his campaign in Bernalillo County.
“Allen’s background of service and success in the business world make him an ideal candidate for governor of New Mexico,” Winter said in the release. “I’m confident Allen can win this race and turn our state around.”
Winter has been a city councilor for 10 years — making him the council’s longest-serving member — and was council president for four of those years. He’s also chief operations officer for Albuquerque Public Schools.
Weh is competing in the GOP primary against state Rep. Janice Arnold-Jones, Doña Ana District Attorney Susana Martinez and public relations professional Doug Turner.
