The majority of those who voted in last week’s non-scientific poll on this site said Ray Powell would make the best state land commissioner out of the declared and potential candidates for the position.
Of 739 votes cast, 444, or 60 percent, went to Powell, while 174, or 24 percent, went to Sandy Jones; 54, or 7 percent, went to Harry Montoya; and 29, or 4 percent, went to Patricia Madrid. Some 38 voters, or 5 percent, said they don’t know which candidate would make the best land commissioner.
