Five finalists named for NMSU president job

The New Mexico State University Board of Regents approved a list of five finalists for the job of president earlier this afternoon.

The finalists are, according to the Las Cruces Sun-News:

Barbara Coutoure, senior vice chancellor for academic affairs and professor of English at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.

Richard Herman, special assistant to the president, professor and recently chancellor at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

James Oblinger, professor and recently chancellor at North Carolina State University.

Michael Ortiz, president, California State Polytechnic University in Pomona.

Lisa Rossbacher, president, Southern Polytechnic State University in Marietta, Ga.

The regents have said they want a new president in place by the start of the spring semester. Expect visits to campus that include public events and closed-door interviews with the regents in the coming weeks.
