Finalists for NMSU president job could be named today

The New Mexico State University Board of Regents is scheduled to hear from its presidential search committee this afternoon, and the meeting could lead to a public announcement of finalists for NMSU’s top job.

At the meeting, the committee will recommend at least five candidates to the board, search committee Chairman Del Archuleta told the Las Cruces Sun-News. Then the regents will decide whether to accept the recommendation.

The regents have said they want a new president in place by the start of the spring semester. Once finalists are named, they’ll likely be scheduled for visits to campus that include public events and closed-door interviews with the regents.

Today’s meeting will be held at 2 p.m. in the Regents Room in the Educational Services Center on the Las Cruces campus.
