With early and absentee votes counted, Richard Berry remains about five points ahead of incumbent Martin Chávez in the Albuquerque mayoral race, and he’s climbing higher above the 40-percent threshold that would allow him to avoid a runoff.
Berry currently has 8,429 votes, or 41.62 percent. Chávez has 7,296 votes, or 36.03 percent. Richard Romero has 4,492 votes, or 22.18 percent.
In council races, District 3 incumbent Isaac Benton has a 16-point lead over challenger Alan B. Armijo and District 9 incumbent Don Harris has a 60-point lead over challenger David Barbour. But District 5 incumbent Michael Cadigan is currently losing to challenger Dan Lewis by about 12 points.
The “Yes” votes currently have the lead in all the questions related to propositions, taxes and bonds, though some are closer than others.
