Sen. Lopez makes lieutenant governor candidacy official

State Sen. Linda Lopez, D-Albuquerque, made her run for lieutenant governor official this weekend at an event in Albuquerque. Here’s video of the speech she gave there, courtesy of Mary Collins:

Lopez faces lots of competition in the primary. Others who have declared their candidacies are Santa Fe County Sheriff Greg Solano, state Sen. Gerald Ortiz y Pino of Albuquerque, State Rep. Jose Campos of Santa Rosa, former state Democratic Party Chairman Brian Colón, and Lawrence Rael, executive director of the Mid-Region Council of Governments.

In addition, Matthew Padilla, a law student and former U.S. Navy officer, and Española Mayor Joseph Maestas say they are considering running.
