Contrary to media reports, a new blog called Val Kilmer – The Real Deal isn’t an official Web site of the potential 2010 New Mexico gubernatorial candidate or affiliated with him in any way.
The blog is affiliated with the lifestyle magazine Living Life…Boomer Style. That publication’s assistant editor, Shelli Carlisle, confirmed in an e-mail that the blog is not affiliated with Kilmer. As for the content on the site, Carlisle said it’s taken from “compilations from different interviews over the years” and doesn’t contain new writings or quotes from the actor.
The blog isn’t political, but includes Kilmer quotes about love and New Mexico’s beauty.
New Mexico Blogger Joe Monahan was the first to report today that the site is “apparently” a new blog unveiled by Kilmer. He did so in the context of wondering what the blog means about whether Kilmer will jump into the governor’s race.
Monahan’s posting was followed by The Santa Fe New Mexican’s Steve Terrell, on his blog, writing that Val Kilmer – The Real Deal, is Kilmer’s “new blog.”
Kilmer, a Democrat, has said he’s considering running for governor next year. In February, talk of a potential Kilmer run ramped up when he appeared at the Roundhouse during the legislative session, met with members of the state’s congressional delegation in Washington and hired a powerhouse public relations firm to handle communications and media for his potential gubernatorial campaign.
But, since then, the chatter about Kilmer’s potential entrance into politics has been virtually nonexistent. Earlier this month, he put his 6,000-acre Pecos ranch up for sale.
