Republican 1st Congressional District candidate Darren White is out with a new, hard-hitting TV ad accusing Democratic opponent Martin Heinrich of wanting to raise a number of taxes.
Here’s the 30-second ad:
Heinrich has been running an ad attacking White for days, and the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee has been attacking White for weeks. White made sure to point that out at the beginning of a news release announcing his first negative TV ad, calling the ad a “contrast issue ad.”
But there’s no contrasting in the spot, which doesn’t say a thing about White. Here’s the script:
“An economy slowed, jobs lost, families struggling,” the narrator states. “Martin Heinrich’s record? Higher taxes. On the city council, Martin Heinrich voted for higher taxes on everything from health care to housing.”
“Now Heinrich is running for Congress pledging more of the same: return of the marriage penalty, the death tax, higher taxes on small businesses,” the narrator states. “Killing jobs. The largest tax hike in American history. Our economy can’t afford Martin Heinrich.”
The Heinrich campaign said a response is coming. I’ll publish it when the campaign provides it.
