Hillary to campaign for Obama Sunday in Española

Hillary Clinton will campaign in Española on Sunday for Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama.

Doors open at 2 p.m. for Clinton’s rally, which will be held in the gymnasium at Northern New Mexico College’s Española campus, located at 921 Paseo de Oñate. The event is open to the public, according to a news release. Seating is on a first-come, first-served basis. Organizers won’t allow bags into the event.

Clinton easily defeated Obama in the Española area — Rio Arriba County — in the Feb. 5 caucus, largely because of the support of Hispanics.

Following Sunday’s rally, Gov. Bill Richardson will host two fundraisers in Albuquerque and Santa Fe to help Clinton retire the debt from her unsuccessful presidential campaign.

Obama will be in New Mexico on Monday, but details of his visit have not been released.
