Don Wiviott topped all Third Congressional District candidates in fundraising during the first three months of 2008, but Ben R. Luján also raised an impressive amount, and the fundraising total of Benny Shendo Jr. was respectable.
Wiviott, according to the report he filed today with the Federal Election Commission, raised $676,980 – $109,504 of it from individual contributors and $565,000 a loan he gave his campaign. He spent $540,315, and began the second quarter of the year with $433,375 on hand.
“I have been touched by the outpouring of support from New Mexicans who believe in our campaign and want to join us in this important effort to bring change to
Luján, according to the report he filed today, raised $328,740 – $296,140 from individuals and $32,600 from political action committees. The Democrat spent $147,316, leaving him with $271,920 in the bank on April 1.
“These fundraising totals show strong grassroots support from the people of Congressional District 3,” Luján said in a release. “I am committed to running a viable and passionate campaign that will advocate ending the war in
Shendo, according to the report he filed, raised $113,626 – all of it from individuals – and spent $34,125. The Democrat began the second quarter of the year with $79,490 in the bank.
Republican CD3 candidate Daniel East filed a report that indicates he raised $34,406 – $33,406 from individuals and $1,000 from political action committees – and spent $18,171. He began the second quarter of the year with $16,235 on hand.
Democrat Jon Adams filed a report indicating that he raised $31,414 – $17,374 from individuals and $14,040 a loan he gave his own campaign. He spent $34,521 and had $12,279 in the bank on April 1.
The other candidates in the CD3 race – Democrats Rudy Martin and Harry Montoya and Republican Marco Gonzales – have not yet filed reports. They must file by midnight.
