Gov. Bill Richardson will give a speech on the impact of U.S. foreign policy on domestic issues on Wednesday at New Mexico State University.
Richardson will give his speech, “The Impact of U.S. Foreign Policy on Domestic Issues in New Mexico and Beyond,” at 3 p.m. at the Music Recital Hall on the Las Cruces campus. The event, sponsored by NMSU’s International Relations Institute, is free and open to the public.
“Gov. Richardson is a seasoned diplomat who has been active in resolving difficult issues between countries. His understanding of these issues and his active support for the International Relations Institute will help in positioning NMSU and New Mexico at the forefront of this global society,” said Delano Lewis, former U.S. ambassador to South Africa and director of the International Relations Institute.
Also on Thursday, the institute will bring former U.S. Ambassador to Mali Vicki Huddleston to campus to speak about U.S. foreign policy toward Cuba. That speech will be held at 4 p.m. at the Gerald Thomas Auditorium.
“I want NMSU’s International Relations Institute to be an important resource, ready to use its institutional knowledge toward a better understanding of the problems facing the world today,” Lewis said. “Through teaching, research and dialogue, the institute will connect the university and the larger New Mexico community to the world around us.”
