Guv will make campaign announcement at 1 p.m.

Gov. Bill Richardson will make an announcement related to his presidential campaign – expected to be that he’s dropping his bid for the presidency – at 1 p.m. today in the rotunda at the Roundhouse in Santa Fe.

The head of Richardson’s government press office, Gilbert Gallegos, confirmed the planned announcement. He said an advisory from the campaign was coming shortly.

He provided no further details. Stay tuned and check back for updates. I’ll have complete coverage.

Update, 10:10 a.m.

A source confirms that U.S. Rep. Tom Udall is expected to be with Richardson at the announcement.

Update, 10:20 a.m.

For those who live outside the Albuquerque television market (including Doña Ana County) the announcement will be broadcast live on KOB-TV’s Web site. Parts of it will also likely be televised on the national cable networks.
