School board announces Feb. 6 election

The Las Cruces Public Schools Board of Education has released its proclamation of the Feb. 6, 2007 election.

District 4 board Member John Schwebke and District 5 Member Sharon Wooden are both up for re-election. With all the controversy and turmoil swirling around the school district, this should be an interesting one.

Candidates must declare between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. on Dec. 19 at the Doña Ana County Government Center’s Bureau of Elections on Motel Boulevard. Write-in candidates must declare by Jan. 2.

Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Feb. 6. There will be five polling locations in each district. For a map of the board districts, click here.

The four-year terms begin March 1.
