Leading Republican PRC candidates both optimistic

Here are the newest statewide results on the Republican side in the PRC District 5 race:

• D. Kent Evans: 926 votes or 36.6 percent
• Doyle Pruitt: 575 votes or 22.8 percent
• C. Earl Greer: 1,026 votes or 40.6 percent

Evans said he’s optimistic. Doña Ana County is the largest in the 11-county district, so many of its votes will be added to the total last, and Evans has a sizable lead here.

“There’s still a chance. It’s neck and neck,” Evans said. “I’ll take what I can get, even if it’s one vote.”

Greer is also optimistic. He said he was planning to lose Doña Ana County, and is pleased that he has 34 percent of the vote here.

“We’ll have to wait and see what Doña Ana County says,” he said.
