(En Español) While we try to stay consistent with the use of polling locations it seems as though every other year there’s a reason to make a few changes. That’s the case this year as we approach the Primary and General elections.
We have several significant changes that we’d like you to be aware of.
First, we have added the La Mesa Fire Station and Mesquite Elementary School. These locations will provide additional locations in the south valley, an area where it is hard for us to find locations that meet accessibility requirements.
Second, we are changing several early voting locations.
We will no longer be using the GISD Administration Building in Sunland Park. This location served us well while we needed it, but getting in and out of the building is difficult. This year we will use the Doña Ana Community College: Sunland Park Center. This is a newer and much more convenient and accessible building. With voting taking place in the front lobby we feel it will be better for voters.
We will no longer be using the Betty McKnight Center in Chaparral. We know that this building is a great location, however internet access has created challenges. During the 2014 election several people received the wrong ballot because of internet problems. This is not acceptable. We will now be using the Doña Ana Community College: Chaparral Learning Center. This facility will be much more reliable and will prevent the kind of problems that a few experienced in 2014.
