(En Español) It is the duty of the Dona Ana County Clerk’s office to preserve our history and in June 2014, the clerk’s office began an extensive records preservation project. Since then over 28,000 records from the 1800’s to the mid 1990’s have been preserved. These documents include but are not limited to maps, marriage records, newspaper publications, and deeds.
Each document is scanned and microfilmed to preserve the original, to have a backup for our archives, and to import into our recording system for online access. Kofile Preservation was hired to complete the preservation and the Clerk’s Office expects to spend about $100,000 a year from our recording fees budget on preservation.
