Holding power accountable

Subscriptions and donations to quality news organizations have surged since Donald Trump won the presidency on Nov. 8. Many people are expressing a desire to ensure news organizations have the resources to hold the Trump Administration accountable.

Last week I wrote about my commitment in Trump’s America: to tell stories and facilitate discussions that help us understand each other, to focus on protecting civil rights, and to call out violence when I see it.

Really, that means NMPolitics.net plans to ramp up efforts we’ve focused on all along. We spent much of the 2016 election cycle telling stories about who voters were supporting and why.

We’ve won national, regional, and state awards for investigative reporting, storytelling, and commentary writing. We’ve sued state and local agencies to enforce transparency law.

We’re committed to holding power accountable – regardless of who holds that power – and telling stories about how it impacts you. We have big plans for the next year, including an investigation into how the 2013 freeze of Medicaid funding for behavioral health organizations and other factors have contributed to an inadequate treatment system in Southern New Mexico.

NMPolitics.net depends on help from people like you. Please, support independent journalism by making a donation today.

¡Mil gracias!
