Explanation for redactions in voter-fraud report

NMPolitics.net redacted many names and addresses from the Sunland Park voter-fraud report issued today by the Secretary of State’s Office. Here’s why:

The report includes serious, criminal allegations against a number of individuals, and it identifies addresses at which they’ve registered to vote in Sunland Park and, in some instances, in El Paso.

None of these individuals has been charged with a crime, though the report clearly implicates them in electoral fraud, and the district attorney says at least six of them and perhaps more will face criminal charges.

Especially on such a politically charged issue as voter fraud, NMPolitics.net has no interest in fanning the flames by naming people who may not ever be charged with crimes. And yes, in case you’re wondering, the secretary of state’s past fanning of the flames without backing up allegations by providing evidence factored into NMPolitics.net’s decision.

If these individuals are charged, NMPolitics.net will identify them.
