A new poll finds Gov. Susana Martinez and U.S. Sen. Tom Udall enjoying high approval ratings, while former Gov. Bill Richardson’s approval rating remains dismal.
Martinez’s approval was 53 percent in the survey from the Democratic firm Public Policy Polling. Some 29 percent disapproved of the job she’s doing, and 18 percent said they don’t know.
Udall’s approval was even higher – 56 percent approved, 31 percent did not, and 13 percent said they don’t know.
Richardson, on the other hand, was a different story. Only 34 percent said they approve of the job he did as governor, while 55 percent disapprove, and 11 percent don’t know. Half of those surveyed said they would definitely not vote for him again, while 35 percent said they would consider it and 13 percent said they definitely would vote for him.
Public Policy Polling surveyed 545 New Mexico voters from Feb. 4-6. The survey had a margin of error of plus or minus 4.2 percent.
The group had already released earlier numbers from the same poll on the approval ratings for U.S. Sen. Jeff Bingaman and President Barack Obama, whose seats are both up for grabs next year.
