Newman received 64 percent of the vote

Former Hobbs Mayor Monty Newman received the votes of 64 percent of central committee members in being elected chairman of the Republican Party of New Mexico on Saturday.

There were 295 ballots cast. Newman received 188 to Nina Martinez’s 106, or 36 percent.

That’s according to Mark Van Dyke, chairman of the Republican Party of Doña Ana County, who sent the vote totals to NMPolitics.net.

Here are the full results for state GOP officer elections:

Chairman

  • Monty Newman: 64 percent, 188 votes
  • Nina Martinez 36 percent, 106 votes
  • One spoiled ballot, 295 cast

1st vice chair

  • John Billingsley: 61 percent, 178 votes
  • Doug Antoon: 39 percent 112 votes
  • Two spoiled ballots, 292 cast

  • Robert Perea: 100 percent by voice vote

Treasurer

  • Bill Redmond: 100 percent by voice vote

Secretary

  • Peter Shams-Avari: 69 percent, 200 votes
  • Bob Cornelius: 31 percent, 90 votes
  • One spoiled ballot, 291 cast

1st Congressional District vice chair

  • Rick Abraham: 56 percent, 44 votes
  • J. Rockwell: 44 percent, 34 votes
  • One spoiled ballot, 79 cast

2nd Congressional District vice chair

  • Alice Eppers: 100 percent by voice vote

3rd Congressional District vice chair

  • Rube Render: 100 percent by voice vote
