Welcome!
After seven years as a newspaper reporter and editor, I left behind a stable paycheck in May 2006 to follow a dream I’d been developing for years. I started the news Web site Heath Haussamen on New Mexico Politics, now more commonly called NMPolitics.net.
The Internet has revolutionized the way we get our news, and I wanted to help define the change. Through the Internet, news is more immediate and comprehensive. The format allows readers to be participants instead of consumers. I think it’s an exciting time.
In addition, I keep my eyes open for unique opportunities to have a voice in the conversation about the role of government in our society. In the last few years I have done stints as a reporter for the New Mexico Independent and a columnist for the Albuquerque Tribune and NewWest.net.
NMPolitics.net is one of the most widely read and talked about news web sites in the state and has been named by the Washington Post’s Chris Cillizza as one of the best state politics blogs in the nation.
Feel free to contact me at heath@haussamen.com. I look forward to hearing from you.
