Welcome!
After seven years as a newspaper reporter and editor, I left behind a stable paycheck in May 2006 to follow a dream I’d been developing for years. I started a news Web site, Heath Haussamen on New Mexico Politics, and created CrucesNews.com,
The Internet is revolutionizing the way we get our news, and I wanted to help define the change. Through the Internet, news is more immediate and comprehensive. The format allows readers to be participants instead of consumers. I think it’s an exciting time.
In addition, I keep my eyes open for unique opportunities to have a voice in the conversation about the role of government in our society. I contribute weekly to the Diary of a Mad Voter blog published by the Denver Post’s Politics West and the independent Web site NewWest.net. Until it ceased publication on Feb. 23, I was a regular columnist for the Albuquerque Tribune and, in 2007, I wrote a series of background articles on Gov. Bill Richardson for the Santa Fe New Mexican’s Web site dedicated to coverage of his presidential run.
If you think you have an opportunity in which I might be interested,
please contact me at heath@haussamen.com. I look forward to hearing from you.
